- Andy Lonsdale
Andy Lonsdale comes from a background of 15 years experience in
the IT industry. He has worked with the Internet since it was first
connected to Australia in 1989. For the last 7 years he has specialised
in Web technologies and multimedia development. His IT career has
also spanned being a systems analyst, programmer, and system administration.
Andy has developed systems for high profile clients
like Supreme Court of Qld, BCC, QSuper, APNIC. Andy has also been
a guest consultant on ABC radio on Internet matters on 2 occasions.
He has used Javascript, CSS and HTML in depth for many years as
a professional in the industry. Andy feels a real passion for passing
on his knowledge that he has accumulated over these many years.
JSP - Wendy
Cameron
Wendy Cameron works as a professional consultant in the Information
Technology industry. She has a double degree in Electronic Commerce
and Internet Technology. She has broad experience crossing many
development disciplines and encompassing a number of technologies,
specifically Internet technologies.
Her core experience and skills include JSP,
XML, XSL, ASP, Java and Javascript programming. She has worked on
several major J2EE projects. The times that Wendy has been an IT
tutor at university gave her a great deal of satisfaction. Her love
of learning translates into a love of teaching.
ColdFusion
- Peter Deacon
Peter Deacon has over 17 years experience in databases and Information
Technology. He has worked as an applications developer and senior
systems analyst for various government departments, universities,
local councils, and other areas within the corporate sector.
During his career Peter has been responsible for
leading teams of programmers to develop a broad range of software
applications, such as student information systems, data warehouse
projects, and numerous web developments, including a number of eCommerce
web sites. Peter has been developing dynamic web applications since
1995 using Oracle and SQL Server databases. For the last 3 years
he has specialized in Cold Fusion and now acts as an independent
consultant.
ASP - Andrew
Smith
Andrew Smith comes from a background in electronics engineering
which lead to a keen interest in computers and programming. While
at University he was given the opportunity to work for the university
and head a new Internet department that was going to be developing
with 'new' technology from Microsoft, Active Server Pages (ASP).
This was the beginning of his involvement in Internet technologies.
He has also undergone training through professional providers COMTEC,
for database administration and database development as well as
Java training with Sun Educational Services. He also holds and MCP+I
certification.
With a grounding in education Andrew moved into the business sector.
Andrew worked as a senior developer for ZIVO, where he developed
sites for Bosch, Hewlett Packard among others. Recently he was working
on the development of a content management system that required
building reusable code to develop custom applications. As well,
Andrew has been developing a custom solution for Department of State
and Regional Development Victoria (DSRD). This involved working
with ASP technologies to develop applications to deliver a rich
and manageable web environment for the Goscience project. Active
Server Pages and SQL Server have been the backbone of the development,
and as such have become his specialty.
PHP
- Duncan Dickinson
Duncan has been involved in the computing profession for over five
years. During this time he has worked for a large investment bank,
jointly operated an I.T. consultancy company and provided independent
contracting services. Duncan's career has been largely web-centric
and encompasses both Internet and Intranet system design and implementation.
Whilst at home with many programming languages, Duncan has spent
the past two years focussing on PHP, favouring its functionality
and flexibility. Databases are also central to Duncan's programming
work and he has experience with small to large scale systems on
the Linux and Windows platforms.
Within the last year, Duncan has turned towards
education as a new angle on his I.T. career. Currently undertaking
the Master of Teaching at Q.U.T., following on from his Bachelor
of I.T. , Duncan has a keen interest in understanding how best to
transfer knowledge. Expect Duncan's seminars to be interactive,
fun and thought-provoking!
