FAQ: What is an authcode?13 Nov
So what exactly is an authcode?
- The auth-info code is a unique password required to transfer a domain to a new domain company. The code is a 6 to 16-character password assigned by the Registrar when the domain name is created. Essentially it is the “password” for a domain name and aids in the identification of the domain owner so proper authority can be established. The code is only used for transfers between registrars.
Why do I need an authcode to transfer my domain into your system?
- The authcode system is designed to increase domain security by preventing unauthorised transfers. Most domain types such as .COM, .NET, .AU, .BIZ and .INFO have an authcode transfer system in place.
How do I get my authinfo?
- You should be able to get this information from your current registrar upon request. It may be obtainable through your member login on their website.
