Delegating your Domain, also known as changing your name servers, means that you are assigning your domains name server to a specific location - the exact DNS (domain name server) address will determine where your Domain Name will point to.

Example. My website www.mywebsite.com has DNS with the Primary ns1.newwebserver.com and the Secondary ns2.newwebserver.com - these Domain Name Servers are based on your Web Hosting. Currently, www.mywebsite.com is pointing to Alive Domains Domain Name Server on Alive’s Web Hosting.

To modify or add your name server settings follow these steps below:

Login to your Alive Domains (click here) Account - Alive Domain Name Registrar

The top navigation panel, click on “Manage Domain”

A page will appear, click on My Domain Names link

Select the desired Domain Name you are wanting to manage by clicking the + icon

Your Domain details will appear in a on-screen drop down, click on Modify DNS

Enter your desired Web Hosting DNS, Primary and Secondary, the current DNS can be deleted and updated.

An approximate of 24hours is needed for your DNS settings to propagate the change-over and take effect, this cannot be controlled as it’s standard protocol.

There are literally thousands of reasons as to why your website my load slowly, here are a few common errors in which maybe at fault on mutual ends of accounts;

>> You have nearly exceeded your Disk Quota for your Web Hosting account, a fee is incurred if you are wanting to upgrade your quota or alternatively you will have to delete large amounts of files that are stored on your Host.
>> Our servers maybe in downtime and it’s common for all Web Hosting companies though never frequent.
>> Have you considered the the amount/size of images, flash, movies or music that is contained on your website?

My FTP is running slow or won’t even load!
This is mostly because of the content overload inside your host, as the above statement, the two resolutions for this is to…

>> Delete large amounts of files that are stored within your hosting, this can be done through your FTP Client.
>> Send a Support Ticket through our system for a possible Disk Quota enlargement.

Another reason as to why your FTP may load slow or not load at all is because you may have hundreds of TMP or Crontab files within your host. If you can log into your FTP without Timing Out, the only option would be to start deleting these Crontabs, they can also be turned off in your H-Sphere Account settings.

If you are receiving Time Outs or your FTP Login is freezing/hanging, send a Support Ticket or Call the Alive office for further assistance.

Alive Online offers three main Web Hosting packages.
To sign up for any of the packages, visit the Alive Web Hosting section and select either one of the packages of your desire by following the link Click Here to Sign Up - all the steps from there are automated.

FAQ Web Hosting:

Do I need a domain for Web Hosting?
- It’s essential to have a domain for Web Hosting otherwise the sign up process is rendered to near useless. During the Sign Up process it will ask you if you want to Register your Web Hosting account and to transfer your domain name across to your new web hosting or Register without a domain name.

So either way, you can register your Web Hosting if you have no Domain Name registered or vice-versa

How do register for an Email Only package?
- In the Web Hosting section, at the bottom of the page there is a Alive Email Only plan which basically is Hosting for Emails only. Simply follow the link and go through the automated process.

Will my account be suspended for out-of-date credit cards?
- Usually, no. We will be notified for out-of-date credit card details via our system and we will contact you for updated details. Failure to provide correct Billing Details and your account may find itself suspended.

I’ve signed up for a Hosting account but my credit card is expired, what do I do?
- Contact Alive Online via phone on 1300 721 603, lodge a Support Ticket or email help@alive.com.au This is a common issue that cannot be dodged, as many customers realise their credit card is expired their account will still be created. An Administrator will moderate proceedings after payment has been made.

I have signed up for the wrong account, what do I do?
- Customers need to lodge a Support Ticket for this case providing their User name or Account ID for your Hosting Account as this process by Support Ticket will be much easier and quicker.

I need to retrieve my FTP Details.
- FTP Details are provided within your Hosting control panel. Simply, log into your H-Sphere Hosting account and then enter the FTP settings page where you will be able to created FTP Sub Accounts and also change your password. If you are having troubles, you will need to lodge a Support Ticket for this case providing their User name or Account ID for your Hosting Account as this process by Support Ticket will be much easier and quicker.
